When life gets busy and your constantly on the run there is nothing better than an energizing snack that is easy to make, stores well, and is portable.
What am I talking about? Delicious cacao date balls of course!
These little bits are packed with chocolate flavour, protein, and the perfect amount of sweetness.
Recipe:
10-12 medjool dates, pitted and soaked
3/4 – 1 cup almonds, finely chopped
3/4 – 1 cup walnuts, finely chopped
2 Tbsp cacao powder
2 Tbsp hemp seeds
1 Tbsp maple syrup
Take pitted dates and soak in warm water for 10 minutes. This helps them to soften.
Place drained dates in a food processor and pulse to chop. Add almonds, walnuts, cacao powder, hemp seeds, and maple syrup and pulse to combine. Mixture should be sticky but firm enough to roll, if needed add a little extra maple syrup. Roll dough into balls and place in the fridge to set.
Enjoy!
*I rolled mine in some crushed walnuts for something a little extra special! It also helps to hold the balls together.
Store in the fridge or even the freezer for weeks to months (if frozen).
These delicious bits are great energy boosters to have on hand for that quick pick me up!
